“The seas are never going to part without me taking that first step.”

Today I have an interview with my friend Jenna, who is a performance coach for network marketers, and we talked about how God is working in her business.  Here are some highlights of their conversation. Be sure to watch the entire interview below.

First of all, Jenna recognizes that God is her business.  Jenna wouldn’t have a business if it was not for God’s direction every single day.  Before she started her business, she heard God tell her that she is going to leave her job and start a business before she knew what she was going to do.  She didn’t think she would ever leave her job that was very comfortable, flexible, and something she was good at. It never made sense to leave her job.

God continued to knock and say, “You’re going to quit,” but I said...to God…”Please don’t talk to me.”  Weird and maybe bad thing to say to God, but I kept saying to Him, “No, I’m good, I’m good.”

She continues:

-I eventually said yes, though, and I could have never imagined what has happened happening.

-I ask Him every day, “What do I need to say and do to serve the people who have hired me?  How do I need to show up for them?” He gave me the talent and the platform, and it is not on my shoulders.  He guides me.

Who do you meet in this business?

-I decided early on that I would wear my love for the Lord on my sleeve.  This has attracted a lot of Christians into my business, and soon after speaking to people I am meeting for the first time it is obvious that God has put us on the call for a reason.

-In talking to people at my corporate job who ask me what is the best thing about my coaching job, I get to tell them about the connections with the people who have come into my life that I wouldn’t have been able to make otherwise.

“Let me make sure everything is safe and secure.”  How has that shifted for you?

-I have OCD for real, so I try and control everything.  That is what I teach: how to have a guarantee in your business.  I need to know it is going to work.

-The seas are never going to part without me taking that first step.

-While going through the Draw the Circle prayer challenge, I have learned that you have to get your feet wet.

-I have God telling me what to do, so it doesn’t matter, I don’t have to worry.

-Success may not financial success, or flexibility in my work.  Success has looked like connections with my clients that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

-Life is so much different when you are living it through His vision for you, versus your vision.

-He clearly has been planning this my entire life, but I just didn’t know it.

Putting on your performance coaching hat, what is one practical tip on how to have a more profitable or thriving business?

-Be organized in your business.  Have a plan so you know what to do.

-Overwhelm can be solved with a step-by-step process that you rinse and repeat every single time.  This will allow you to be super and effective with your time. This will give you time freedom and flexibility that got you in your business in the first place.

-Unpack what you do that you don’t even realize that you do, get in a step-by-step or checklist format, so that you can rinse and repeat your work, AND you can give that to your team to do as well.

-If you’re not sure how to do it, I guarantee your team doesn’t know how to do it either.
